A vintage Johnson Brothers round vegetable or soup serving bowl with lid, in the Old Britain Castles pattern, and dating to around the 1930's. The Ironstone bowl has a scalloped and embossed rim & handles, and the lid has an applied handle.

With a blue and white transfer decoration of Castles of Britain, as pictured, from 1792 to the lid and interior. The base is fully stamped with the printed Crown / Johnson Bros / England backstamp c. 1930's - see photo for full mark. Condition : Excellent condition with no damage or wear.

The bowl has a diameter of approx 11 5/8 (29.5cm) including the handles. And 10 1/2 (26.7cm) excluding handles. The lid is 8 3/4" (22.4cm) diameter and the height is 3.5" (9cm) without the lid & 6 (15cm) with the lid.
